H3iSquared successfully hosted an IEC61850 Edition 2 Seminar with 2 international speakers, Maciej Goran, Ruggedcom Utility Marketing Manager, and Stefan Hafner, Ruggedcom. Hot topics around the IEC61850 standard were covered from an Overview of the standard, to Network Architectures, IEEE1588 (Precision Time Protocol – GPS Time stamped data for nanosecond time determinism) to future redundancy protocols such as PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol) and HSR (High availability Seamless Ring).

Delegates were overwhelmed with the quality of information and were able to see the scope of how these can be used to help add additional reliability on our electrical grids.
